Second in the Timequest Trilogy: Chayn and Villimy’s next challenge becomes apparent as they pass a red dwarf sun on the outskirts of Andromeda and find a derelict Kigon transport in orbit along with a sole planet, Hydrabyss, a slowly evaporting world of water.

The Chilsun, as they call themslves, Children of the Yellow Sun, escaped their inadvertent prison within the environmental simulators of the Kigon star and found itself with only two resources with which to survive at its disposal, the Kigon ship itself, and a pitiful world of endless seas. Slowly and systematically, they scavenged the vessel to build cities within their world of water, trying deperately to adapt themselves to their new world on a permanent basis.

Chayn and Villimy arrive in time to draw attention to the fact that the Kigon ship is still inhabited by Kigon and managed by an AI called Lorb. In destroying the starship, the Chilsun are destroying their only hope of reaching the terraformed paradise worlds of Andromeda.

Lorb is not in a cooperative mood, but as Chayn and Villimy begin to solve the most critical problem of both parties, but it behooves the AI to realize that continued conflict and combat will lead to mutual extinction. Now begins the real battle to reverse the process, to scavenge the cities to salvage the starship and prepare the Chilsun for a trip to a new home with the help of what had been the scourge of mankind.
