Michael Fowler

<p> Born in 1957, Michael grew up in the once industrial heartland of South Yorkshire, where he still lives, with his wife and two sons.</p> <p> He served as a police officer for thirty-two years, both in uniform and in plain clothes, working in CID, Vice Squad and Drug Squad.&nbsp; He retired in 2006, in the rank of Inspector, finishing his career in charge of a busy CID Department.</p> <p> Always an avid reader, he began his journey into writing whilst at primary school, emulating the adventure stories of Enid Blyton.&nbsp; As he developed his writing, he experimented with many different genres of work until he discovered the 87th Precinct novels written by Ed McBain.&nbsp; He devoured each and every one of his books and became hooked on writing crime.&nbsp; Experiences from his life as a cop fuelled his stories and he spent much of his time off duty honing his craft as a writer of crime.</p> <p> Upon his retirement he began drafting the novel he had always promised himself he would write, and in 2010 his debut crime novel &lsquo;Heart of the Demon,&rsquo; featuring Detective Sergeant Hunter Kerr, was released.</p> <p> He now writes and paints full-time in his studio and his work can be seen on his web-site at www.mjfowler.co.uk</p>
